Hey there,
I am back again with another documentary recommendation.
Do you remember, where Forest Gump was posted in the movie?
It was Vietnam. I learned about the Vietnam war only through that movie.
Also, in the movie, we see people protesting against the US involvement in the war.
Why?
Because it was the most controversial war in US history that only led to destruction on all sides. Nothing good came out of that war. That is what was shown in the movie, in a not so brutal way.
But I am not recommending Forest Gump which has an 8.7 rating in IMDB.
Rather, I want you to watch, Ken Burns and Lynn Novick's ten-part, 18-hour documentary series, THE VIETNAM WAR, rated 9.1 in IMDB (compare it with Forest Gump)
I started watching it casually during lunch, but man, I was hooked. It's so detailed and thrilling. I thought that it was a movie. But when after the first episode ended in a cliffhanger, I thought it might be a mini-series of 2-3 episodes. But, it was 10 episodes. 10 episodes of pure history, narration, and filmmaking.
If you are into history and wars, this is gonna give you moviegasms.
Right now, it's available on Netflix.
You can binge-watch it this weekend.
Ciao!
